Maktab Introduction

Ta‘līmul Islām Chingford is the Madrasah of Chingford Masjid, dedicated to nurturing the next generation through sound Islamic education, continuous tarbiyah and a strong connection with the House of Allah.

Our Maktab provides students with the essential foundations of their Dīn. Students learn to recite the Qur’an correctly, memorise sūrahs and essential duʿās, and develop their understanding of Islam through a comprehensive Islamic Studies syllabus covering Fiqh, ʿAqā’id, Hadith, Sīrah, Akhlāq, Ādāb and more.

We believe that Islamic education extends beyond the classroom. Regularly learning in the company and under the guidance of qualified ʿUlamā’ plays an important role in a student’s tarbiyah, while being educated within the Masjid develops familiarity, comfort and a natural attachment to the House of Allah from a young age.

As students grow in their knowledge, character and connection with the Masjid, those who excel in the Maktab may progress to our Hifdh Programme. Our wider vision is to provide a pathway from Maktab to Hifdh and, for those who wish to continue further, towards advanced Islamic studies — nurturing future Huffādh and ʿUlamā’ who remain connected to the Qur’an and the Masjid and go on to benefit their communities.

Our Curriculum

At Ta‘līmul Islām Chingford, our Maktab curriculum is designed to provide students with a well-rounded Islamic education, combining Qur’an recitation, essential Islamic knowledge, and the memorisation of sūrahs and duʿās. The curriculum is divided into three core areas:

Qur’an – Learn to Read

For Qur’an recitation, we follow the Safar Academy Learn to Read Series, providing students with a structured pathway towards confidently and correctly reciting the Qur’an.

Students begin with the Complete Qāʿidah, before progressing to the Rules of Tajwīd. Once they have developed the required reading and Tajwīd skills, they begin Naẓirah of the Qur’an, starting from Juz ʿAmma and gradually progressing through the Qur’an.

Islamic Studies

Our Islamic Studies curriculum follows the An-Nasihah Publications syllabus, providing students with age-appropriate and progressive Islamic learning throughout their years at the Madrasah.

The syllabus covers key areas including Fiqh, Aḥādīth, Sīrah, Tārīkh, ʿAqā’id, Akhlāq and Ādāb, helping students develop their Islamic knowledge and understand how to apply it in their daily lives.

Sūrahs & Duʿās

Alongside Qur’an and Islamic Studies, students follow the An-Nasihah Sūrahs & Duʿās syllabus, progressively memorising essential sūrahs, duʿās and other prescribed material appropriate to their level.

Regular revision and assessment help students retain what they have memorised and confidently practise it in their daily lives.
